Places in Jordan - Azraq Castle

The ancient name was Dazyanus. It was one of the largest castles in the eastern desert, with black basalt stones. The castle was built by the Romans in the third century AD to defend their frontiers. The outstanding architectural method of building the castle, called the corporal system, made it unique. It was re-used … pilgrimage routes. In the First World War it was used by Lawrence of Arabia as the headquarters for the Arab legion forces.
