Places in Jordan - Kerak Castle

Crusaders in the 12th century were active in the area of Trans Jordan, building many castles to monitor the trade and pilgrim routes, and to strengthen their presence in the region.

The castle was built in 1142 with rusticated masonry to demonstrate their efficiency in castle building and to show without doubt that it was a place to be used for military purposes.
