A wildlife and antiquities safari in Jordan

Whilst this is an incomparable wildlife safari it also celebrates the history and culture of Jordan, the two being so closely interlinked. Visits to the unforgettable ruins at Petra, Lawrence of Arabia's hideaway at Azraq Castle and the substantial Roman City at Jerash are all part of the tour. Accommodation is a comfortable mixture of hotels, guest houses and tented camps.

Day 1: QAI Airport - Amman Overnight.
Arrival at Queen Alia International Airport. Meet & assist at airport and transfer to 4* hotel in Amman and overnight.
Day 2: Amman - Iraq El Amir - Ma'in Spa - Amman Overnight.
An easy start to your holiday. Late breakfast at hotel. Meet your guide and driver and transfer to Iraq El Amir, with its magnificent landscape. Drive on to Ma'in Spa, a hot springs and mineral water falls. Lunch at Ma'in Spa. Evening back to hotel. Take a rest and freshen up. Transfer to Kan Zaman Village for dinner. Overnight at 4* hotel in Amman.
Day 3: Amman - Zubia Reserve - Jerash - Amman Overnight.
Today you will visit Zubia Reserve, the land of the beautiful oak tree mountains, which offer shelter for many birds and animals. You will also have a closer look at the roe deer re-introduction programme, and learn about the history of nature conservation in the reserve and the area. Next you visit the fascinating ancient city of Jerash, one of the most complete Roman cities in the area. Lunch in Lebanese Restaurant in Jerash before returning to 4* hotel in Amman.
Day 4: Amman - Azraq Overnight.
Breakfast at hotel before heading east, visiting Jordan's eastern desert. Azraq area with its long history and unique nature is our arrival point. We'll arrive at Shaumary Reserve, the first RSCN (Royal Society for Conservation of Nature) established nature reserve, and one of the earliest re-introduction programmes in the area, such as the Arabian oryx, onager, ostrich and gazelles. We will have a tour in the reserve's shuttle bus and at the visitor centre we join a presentation about the history of RSCN as the leading conservation organization in the area. This would be a very good chance to do some bird watching. We overnight in RSCN Azraq Bungalows.
Day 5: Azraq - Desert Castle - Mt.Nebo - Dead Sea Overnight.
After breakfast we will visit Azraq Oasis to do some bird watching. This is the place where thousands of migratory birds, including raptors and bee eaters, can find somewhere to rest in the middle of the desert including Raptors and Bee Eaters. Your visit to the reserve will include a tour on the board walks deep inside the reeds and finally reaching the bird hide, to catch the first breeze of the morning and the first arrivals of the birds to the water lakes. Next visit the mysterious desert castles of Kharana and Amra, with lunch along the way. Drive on to the Dead Sea then visit the historical site of Mt. Nebo to view the Dead Sea and surrounding area from its heights, to over view the Dead Sea before driving to your hotel, the Dead Sea Spa Hotel. Dead Sea Spa Hotel it is located on the north eastern shore of the Dead Sea, at the lowest spot on earth, and is a 4 star hotel and spa.
Day 6: Free day at the Dead Sea &Overnight.
Free day at the Dead Sea. Overnight at the Dead Sea Spa Hotel.
Day 7: Dead Sea - Kerak - Wadi Rum Overnight.
Start driving up through the mountains of Kerak, arriving at the famous Crusader castle for a guided tour that recreates its 12th century history. A 4 hour drive south to Wadi Rum. Rest of afternoon free. Overnight Wadi Rum campsite.
Day 8: Wadi Rum - Wadi Mujeb - Petra Overnight.
Wadi Rum Reserve is the most newly established reserve in Jordan. To conserve this hugely visited area, the government authorized RSCN to manage the site in such a way that minimises the effect of the tourism and maximises the benefits of the area for local people, without adding any more pressure to the site. You will have a long tour around the reserve, seeing some of its natural and historical beauty, enjoying the scenery and the impressive bird life, including black eagles, trumpeter finches, rock sparrows and wheat eaters. Explore Wadi Rum either on foot or by vehicle. A jeep drive is included here for those who prefer not to walk. Lunch at Wadi Rum Rest House. Drive to Wadi Mujeb for a visit to the Mujib Reserve, the lowest reserve on earth. The rest of the day will be spent hiking around the majestic landscape of the area wadi system, walking in the river water stream, swimming in the natural swimming pools, and - only for adventure lovers - climbing down its breathtaking water falls. 2 hour drive back to Petra. Dinner and overnight at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Petra and Resort 4* hotel in Petra.
Day 9: Full Day in Petra & Overnight.
Get up early to visit Petra in the light of the morning and visit Little Petra. A visit to Jordan wouldn't be complete without seeing the mythological city of Petra, where we will have a full day tour around the city ruins including the mountain-size temples and tombs which were chiselled from the sandstone. Dinner and overnight at the Crowne Plaza Petra Resort.
Day 10: Petra - QAI Airport
Early morning departure for departure from Queen Alia International Airport.
