Amra palace was built by the Umayyad caliphates, in the eastern Jordanian desert, as a place for hunting, and relaxation for the caliphs. It was built by the caliph Al Waleed Ben Abdelmalik from 715 AD.
It is considered to be the most charming of all the palaces and castles in the desert, because of its outstanding construction and the fact that it contains some very beautiful fresco paintings and mosaics, representing the everyday life activities of different periods, and a unique representation of the heavens or 'zodiac'.
The forty-meter deep reservoir supplies the bath-house with water all year round, and the bath was designed meticulously, to operate its three main sections: the cold room, medium, and hot room with steam.
