One of the best preserved Roman cities in the world, with all its gates still standing, plus the paved streets, colonnades, walls, theatres, forums, temples, and churches. The city was famous for its location at the foot of Gilead Mountain, a place famous of ancient copper mines.
Jerash celebrates a 14-day festival of culture and the arts during July and August each year. It is the most important event which takes place in the city, in which many internationally known performers are invited to participate.
